2025Planning the production
Film & Media learners plan layouts, roles and shots on the board before filming begins.
When we think about movies, our minds usually jump straight to the actors on screen. But the real magic of filmmaking happens both in front of the camera and behind it. From the person holding the boom mic to the creative genius editing the final scene, a movie is brought to life by a whole team of talented individuals working together.
That's exactly the exciting world that English is Lekka is opening up to learners. Teaming up with movie guru Riaz Solker, the programme gives learners a chance to step into the fascinating universe of film production. And trust us, it's way more than just shouting 'Action!'
Through hands-on experiences, learners get a taste of what it takes to create a film from start to finish. They explore key areas of filmmaking such as cinematography, recording, sound, editing, screenwriting, and script writing. Whether they're learning how to frame the perfect shot or crafting a gripping storyline, learners get to experience the creative and technical sides of the industry.
But this initiative is about more than just making movies, it's about opening doors. The aim is to expose learners to the many career paths within the film industry while giving them practical skills they can carry into the future. By engaging in interactive lessons and real-world creative tasks, learners build confidence, teamwork skills, and industry knowledge that could one day see their names rolling in the credits.
Who knows? The next blockbuster filmmaker might just be sitting in one of these classes right now.
